How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do:
- Contribute to and support a team of Engineers to deliver Avionics products and services
- Plan and execute verification and validation (V&V) activities at unit, subsystem and vehicle level
- Develop Avionics Engineering designs, processes, systems and activities
- Develop test procedures, conduct test campaigns and analyse results to close requirements
- Participate in requirements definition, architecture development, design reviews and system-level decision making
- Support system integration of power, compute, sensors, actuators, communications and network subsystems
- Support environmental, functional and integration testing including troubleshooting and root cause investigation
- Lead trade studies, concept assessments and COTS evaluations to inform technical direction
- Lead investigations, troubleshoot, modify and repair as needed
- Lead execution of Avionics research and development activities
- Support architecture development, technology strategy and execution, including production
- Coordinate closely across all departments as necessary
- Practice and provide in-depth knowledge on Avionics regulations, industry standards, processes and state-of-the-art research
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure technical alignment and delivery
- Document engineering activities in accordance with company policies, plans and procedures
- Take the lead on projects when appropriate
- Other duties as requested by Management
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Computer Systems, Mechatronics Engineering or relevant qualification
- 4+ years of professional experience in avionics, embedded systems or related engineering environments (excluding internships)
- 3+ years of end-to-end Avionics product development experience
- Experience supporting system integration, testing or verification activities
- Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments
- NV1 Security Clearance Eligible
- Demonstrated resilience and sound judgement in high-pressure situations
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- PCB development of analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit experience
- Embedded software development (baremetal, RTOS, embedded Linux)
- Strong understanding of computers and programming languages (Python, C/C++)
- Experience with FPGA/SoC hardware and software development
- Hands-on electronics testing, debugging and integration
- Experience with avionics system testing, integration and verification
- Experience with Mechanical design software (NX, Solidworks, Onshape)
- Proven ability to design highly reliable products
- Electronics analysis including circuit simulation, power and thermal assessments
- RF systems including antenna design, link budgets, EMI/S-parameter testing
- Experience in space, aerospace or automotive industries
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering practises and relevant space standards (GSFC-STD-7000A, SMC-S-016, RCC 319, DO-254, DO-178)
- Experience working within waterfall and/or agile development frameworks
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment with a desire and willingness to assist other team members in the general day to day running of the department
