Position Title: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Boise, ID
Type: On-site, Full-time
Department: Forward Deployed Engineering
About Multiscale AI: Multiscale AI provides advanced AI solutions for Semiconductor Manufacturing Process Optimization (SMPO). With offices in Atlanta, San Francisco, and Hyderabad, we help semiconductor manufacturers optimize fabs and achieve measurable results.
The Role: We’re hiring a Senior Forward Deployed Software Engineer to lead end-to-end delivery of vertical AI applications (built on AppHub) directly with semiconductor customers. You will own outcomes—not just code—starting from discovery and scoping through design, implementation, productionization, and post-launch operations. You’ll translate messy, real-world constraints into resilient software, partner with domain experts, and make the hard technical calls that unlock value on factory floors.
This position requires a proven track record in leading technical projects and delivering production-level software solutions with at least 5 years of post-graduation experience—not including internships or undergraduate research. Junior or entry-level applicants will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with customer engineers and domain experts to identify and scope opportunities for solutions
  • Lead ambiguous, zero-to-one engagements with customer engineering and ops leaders; turn loosely-defined problems into crisp milestones, design docs, and shipped software.
  • Architect, implement, and harden production applications and data flows (APIs, batch/stream pipelines, model serving, integration with fab systems/equipment), optimizing for reliability, latency, and cost.
  • Drive pilots to prove economic impact; take pilots to scale (1→N) across lines, tools, or sites with change management, training, and rollout plans.
  • Own operational excellence: SLOs, monitoring/alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Navigate security/compliance and physical-environment constraints common to fabs; design for degraded networks, access controls, and safety.
  • Mentor engineers; elevate code quality, testing discipline, and design rigor across the team.
  • Communicate at executive altitude: quantify impact, manage risk and dependencies, and influence decisions with data.
Qualifications:

  • Communicate at executive altitude: quantify impact, manage risk and dependencies, and influence decisions with data.
Preferred Skills:
  • MLOps and data engineering chops (feature pipelines, model serving, A/B or canary, drift/quality monitoring).
  • Track record leading multi-stakeholder programs, including change management and training.
  • Prior mentorship/tech-lead responsibilities for 2–6 engineers.
  • Comfortable working on-site with customers in Boise; travel as needed (≤10%).
  • Experience in semiconductor, industrial, or other high-reliability environments, integrating with MES/SCADA/PLC/equipment data.
What Success Looks Like (6–12 months):
  • You have solved Customer Usecases building scalable Apps.
  • You’ve taken a high-value use case from discovery to production with agreed SLOs and documented ROI.
  • Mean time to recovery and defect escape rates are trending down; adoption and “time-to-insight” are trending up.
  • Customers ask for you by name to lead the next deployment.
This Role Is Not
  • A heads-down back-office role: you’ll be embedded with users and decision-makers.
  • A pure research track: you ship and operate software that moves factory metrics.
  • An entry-level stepping stone: we’re looking for senior ownership and judgment.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and equity options
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Opportunity to work with a cutting-edge team in AI and semiconductor technology
Multiscale AI is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
